The Dundalk Chorus is a membership organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. We currently have over 40 singers of all ages, all walks of life, and from all parts of the Maryland area.
It is our mission to provide a welcoming, loving and supportive atmosphere for women of all ages who want to sing four part harmony-barbershop style. We share our fellowship and harmony by performing our music for the community at large, celebrating our diversity and accepting and developing each member's skills and gifts so that we might excel musically.
For the good of the Chorus: We will learn to sing correct notes and words to all the repertoire songs. A team leader will hear you qualify on each song and help you with problem areas. If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event, please check out our Hire Us section.
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of acapella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. A couple of times a year, we will get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.
In the spring of every year, Dundalk Chorus participates in the Region 19 chorus competition in Ocean City, MD. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to travel to International Competition, which is held in the fall in a city selected each year. The Dundalk Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines, International, a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
